Billy Barquedier is a Belize National Park and it has a nice waterfall hike not too far from Hopkins. It is about 40 minutes away between miles 16 and 19 on the Hummingbird Highway.
To get to the waterfall (at mile 17) you do a 1/2 mile trail hike, then hike another 1/4 mile in a creek on slippery rocks. You are rewarded with a nice waterfall and natural swimming pool at the end.
At mile 16.5 you can go day hiking or arrange hiking and camping with a licensed guide. This is where the office is located and you pay any fees.
There is an entrance fee of $4 USD per person, and camping costs $20 USD/night.
Getting to Billy Barquedier National Park:
Tours/transportation from Hopkins may be available.
You can drive to the park on your own; a guide is not required.
